Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought in the day and the night,
waking and sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, be Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true heir,
Thou in me dwelling, and I in thy care.

Be Thou my Breastplate, my Sword for the fight;
be Thou my Armour and be Thou my Might;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, be Thou my high Tower,
raise Thou me heavenward, great Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor all the world’s praise,
Thou mine inheritance through all my days;
Thou, and Thou only, the first in my heart,
King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, when battle is done,
grant heaven’s joy to me, O bright heaven’s Son;
Christ of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us be glad and rejoice in it.

Introduction

The Collect prayer for the Second Sunday of Lent
Almighty God,
you show to those who are in error the light of your truth,
that they may return to the way of righteousness:
grant to all those who are admitted
into the fellowship of Christ’s religion,
that they may reject those things
that are contrary to their profession,
and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same;
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

The first reading is Psalm 27
read by Ginette Nye

This is the word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.
Glory to you, O Lord.

The Gospel reading is from Luke 13:31-end

Praise to you, O Christ.

Talk
by Revd Charles Sargent

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessing
Christ give you grace to grow in holiness,
to deny yourselves, take up your cross, and follow him;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be upon you and remain with you,
and all those whom you love,
this day and for evermore. Amen

Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know, and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown in you, and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind, and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should you life attract or scare,
Will you let me answer prayer in you, and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see if I but call our name?
Will you set the pris’ners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean and do such as this unseen,
And admit to what I mean in you, and you in me?

Will you love the ‘you’ you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around
Through my sight and touch and sound in you, and you in me?

Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you, and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you, and you in me.
